Making a feature length movie,
documentary or a short film or even a commercial is a very hectic task. The
amount of thinking and planning it requires can sometimes be too much, but when
you take it step by step and not convolute things much, it is an easy process
albeit a lengthy one. As you might know there three stages of making a movie or
anything related to videos really and those are; Pre-production, Production and
Post-production. Pre-production is where all the scripting and casting work is
done while production is where filming is completed. It has been a long
standing belief that the production part of a movie is the most difficult and
the lengthiest, which is true in some cases but not in most. The thing that
really requires much of the time is the post-production part of a movie.
Post-production is where the
movie or a video comes together. While filming you will have raw footage of
more than 10 hours but to cut it down and edit it into the film we need to
broadcast is done in Post-production. There are many production management
companies that do all the processes in the post-production phase of a video
with their years of experience and the skillset that they have developed. There
are various post
production equipment which are required for the process. Some for example
are sound mixers, Video hubs, media asset management systems and various
editing and mixing software.
Post-production can sometimes
take more than half of a movies budget due to the fact that sometimes there
might arise a need to re-record music and score. The addition of special
effects in the movie also comes during this part of the process.
Post-production may sometimes consume half of the timeline a company has set to
complete the movie.
