AV Equipment: The Basics

Over the past few years there has been a huge change in the way media is produced and consumed. With the coming in of new technology and new innovations in the field, media not only has better content but also better quality. One of the main ways with which we create and consume media is through AV Equipment.

AV Equipment refers to products that have both audio and visual components to them, such as presentations, films, TV shows and live productions. In the AV world, there are 3 main types of audio visual settings. The first is residential audio visual. This refers to all the equipment that is used in a person’s personal home and for their personal entertainment or needs. These audio visual installations are usually not very expensive and are made for the use of a small group of people.

These include speakers, LED floors, Flat Screen TV’s, Projectors, Screens, Lighting and equipment that is used in cinema rooms. The second type of AV setting is commercial audio visual. This refers to all the audio visual installations that are by business and other big organisations to meet the needs of a bunch of people. The professional audio visual industry is a huge industry and has manufacturers, dealers, systems integrators, consultants, programmers, presentations professionals and technology managers.  Commercial audio visual is used in most aspects of business from healthcare to museums. The AV equipment includes sound, lighting, projection system, conferencing equipment, video, presentations and more. The last type is educational audio visual. This includes all the audio visual installations that are used in all schools for helping students with their retention and comprehension skills.

The world of AV Equipment is only bound to grow with the development and innovations in technology and will in a few years meet all our entertainment and media needs!
